Parking in Laeken: discover the solutions to simplify your life

September 17, 2020

Laeken is a residential district located in the northwest of Brussels. Formerly a commune in its own right, it was attached to the capital in the 1920s. Laeken is home to a royal castle which was the official residence of the Belgian royal family, the royal greenhouses, and the church of Notre-Dame famous for its crypts. Many important arteries of Brussels pass through Laeken such as the Boulevard Emile Bockstael, the E19, the A12, the N291, or even the Avenue Houba de Strooper.

Located on the Heysel plateau, Laeken is an area rich in history and culture. In particular, it is the site of the Universal Exhibitions of 1935 and 1958 with emblematic places such as the King Baudouin Stadium, the Brussels Exhibition Centre, the Atomium, Bruparck (leisure park), the Mutsaard (where you can see the museums of the Far East), and finally the Port of Brussels.

Given the strong tourist interest represented by the Laeken Park and all the other points of interest present in the district, it can sometimes be difficult to park in this area. Laeken is therefore both a tourist and a residential area, which is why it is becoming increasingly difficult to park your car in a parking lot or in the streets.

In this guide, you can discover the different solutions that exist to find a parking lot and make your life easier.

On-street parking

If you are coming to Laeken for a short period of time you can opt for street parking. Nevertheless, it is interesting to know that a large part of Laeken is located in a paid parking zone. However, like all large cities, there are several options available to you. Indeed there are several color-coded regulated parking zones. The parking times, prices, and conditions differ according to these zones. The orange zone remains the closest to the attractions of Laeken; other options are possible but include a more or less long walk to reach the main points of interest.
