In recent years, the circular economy has been introduced in a large number of areas of activity, particularly in parking lots. The preservation of the environment is a fundamental challenge nowadays and as an actor of mobility, we owe it to ourselves to participate in this project. Dr. Paul Schosseler defines this process as "an economic system of exchange and production [...] which aims to increase the efficiency of resource use and reduce the impact on the environment".

Parking is a real challenge for motorists every day. The idea here is therefore to reinvent our infrastructures and more particularly our parking lots in order to commit to a sustainable approach. We can speak here of "Smart Parking".
It is important to engage in the circular economy, particularly in the construction of this space. First of all, it is necessary to reduce the consumption of raw materials and to turn to more ecological products. Moreover, in France, a regulation advocates the fact that real estate actors are required to recover 70% of their waste.
The integration of the circular economy in the construction of a parking lot will thus make it possible to extend their lifespans and achieve sustainable parking lots.
For example, the company Gecina has added the principle of circular economy to its CSR policy. They want to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions by 60% by 2030, and to achieve this they will encourage their teams to initiate good practices. They are also committed to respecting biodiversity and have created green terraces.
A parking lot should not be used for just one purpose; you have to know how to use your space well: here we will talk about the "Mobility Hub". Faced with a circular economy procedure, why not allow a plurality of users to take advantage of this space?
To adapt to the mobility of the future, these parking lots could have charging stations for electric cars and scooters. This would attract more customers and be in line with the trend. Self-service bicycles and a bicycle garage also provide additional security.
A parking lot could also have space for cleaning and maintenance. It would be very convenient for users to be able to park their car in the same place, clean it and then be able to take a self-service bicycle to get around the city better.
Nowadays, many building renovation projects take environmental impact into account. This is what the principle of circular economy is all about. The aim here is to reduce energy and water consumption. On construction sites, there are several ways to reduce these consumptions, so here are a few examples.
First of all, it could be interesting to use prefabricated materials or to choose construction methods that are considered "dry", i.e. an assembly of steel, wood and plaster products. It might also be possible to ensure that the pipes that supply water are cut when the construction site is shut down each day.
The high consumption of energy, water and raw materials can be seen by concentrating on essential building components such as a parking lot. The circular economy was therefore created to reduce this consumption and to make citizens aware of the strong impact that our constructions have on the environment. It is essential to make efforts to reduce this.
